Log Garden Buildings
Q: Do I need planning permission for a building in my garden?
A: Generally no, provided it satisfies all the criteria for Permitted Development:
• It is a freestanding building at least 5 metres from the house and not attached to it
• It is less than 4 metres high at the ridge
• It is at least 20 metres from the highway
• It is behind the building line
• It takes up less than 50% of the garden of the property excluding the house
• The house is not listed, or in a Conservation Area
It is advisable that you check with your local Planning Office before proceeding.
Q: If planning permission is required, will Prestige Log Buildings obtain it on my behalf?
A: Following a site inspection, we will tell you whether we think
planning is required. If it is, we can submit the application on your
behalf for a fixed fee. In any case, we will always obtain written
confirmation from the local authority before proceeding.
Q: Will my building require Building Regulations approval?
A: Provided the building's internal floor area is less than 30 m2,
Building Regulations should not apply. We advise checking before
proceeding. All of our Log Garden Buildings are less than 30 m2.
Q: Do I have to prepare my own base?
A: You can prepare your own base or we can do this as part of the contract which is subject to a site survey.
Q: Does Prestige Log Buildings require any particular access?
A: Prestige Log Buildings can access almost any site. We will inspect your site before confirming that access is acceptable.
Q: Can I modify one of Prestige Log Buildings standard designs?
A: Yes, the majority of our buildings are individually made to your
expectations, so within reason we can tailor the design to your
specification.
